WELCOME PACKS
If you require a welcome pack we can provide one with up to 15 items - just send us a list and it will be delivered to the house. The cost is 15.00 pounds plus the cost of the items.
REGISTRATION
Since 2015, it is a legal obligation for everyone aged over 16 who stays at a touristic accomodation in Spain to be identified by a legal official document. All properties are required to register the names of guests and supply passport copies. Please bring copies with you and leave them in the house.
MEDICAL DOCUMENTS
Obviously, in an emergency we will assist you in any way possible. Please keep in mind that you will need either private insurance or the European medical card to get treatment. If you have arranged private medical insurance, please take all documentation with you.
INSECTS
Andalucia benefits from a warm climate for several months of the year and correspondingly there are more insects than you would encounter in cooler climates. Ants, wasps and mosquitos are more abundant, so please remember to bring repellant and anti-histamine cream if you are sensitive to stings or bites.
DAY SCHEDULE
It is important to be aware of the time differences in Spain. In the mornings, shops will open at 10.00 am and close at 2.00 pm for the afternoon siesta. They open again at 5.00 pm until around 8.30 pm. Eating times are 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm for lunch and from about 9.00 pm for dinner, although many of the cafes and restaurants will be happy to accommodate you throughout the day.
SUMMER HEAT
With the tinder dry country side, the fire risk is high in Andalucía. There are very large fines for throwing away cigarette butts and sometimes outdoor barbecues get banned in rural areas. Most houses have roller shutters to keep the sun out. The house will remain cooler if you use the shutters during the day, keeping the house dark. Knowledge of these and other local customs will help you to enjoy your holiday to the fullest.
